Description
The American Apple IIe uses a 24-pin Video ROM, while the Euro Apple IIe (identified by the video mode switch located beneath the keyboard) requires a 28-pin Video ROM.

Apple Enhanced ROM Part Numbers
CD ROM: 342-0304-A
EF ROM: 342-0303-A
Do You Already Have an Enhanced Apple IIe?
Before purchasing, check your existing system:
- If your CPU is marked 65C02 or 65C03
- And your ROM chips match the part numbers listed above
Then your Apple IIe may already be Enhanced and this kit may not be required.
To verify, perform the Apple IIe Self-Test:
- Hold Control + Closed Apple
- Press Reset
- Observe the screen:
✅ Low-resolution squares displayed = Your Apple IIe is already Enhanced.
❌ Horizontal bars displayed = Your Apple IIe is not Enhanced and this upgrade kit is recommended.
Important Note
